February 2012 Newsletter

Just a few reminders:

Costume fees are due by the 25^th of this month.

Our Recital is Monday June 4^th at the Sandy Amphitheater

We will have dance on Presidents day.

Thank you for all of your referrals. At this point however our classes are busting at the seams! I will start registration for next year in April and have begun a waiting list that I can add people onto but can no longer put students in classes for this year.

Please check the lost and found as it is also busting at the seams!! Please put your child’s name INSIDE their shoes to better help finding “lost shoes”.

Thank you for allowing us to teach your children we love each of them!!

December 2011 Newsletter-

Just a few quick notes:

The recital is this Saturday the 10^th at Herriman High School in the auditorium. You should have received invitations by email, if you did not then something is wrong with the email address I have for you. I also have some in the studio if needed.

The first show is at 10am (please arrive at 9:30 ready to go). The following classes are in the first show: Tues 10am, Tues 2pm, Tues 4:30 ballet jazz, Tues 5:30 & 6:30 both classes, Tues 7:30, Wed 6:30 mini team, Thurs 2pm both classes and Thurs 5:30.

The 2^nd show is at 11:30 (please be there at 11:00 ready to go). The following classes are in this show: Tues 4:30 tumbling, Tues 7:30, Wed 10am, Wed 4:30, Wed 5:30 both classes, Wed 6:30 Pre-school class, Wed 7:30, Thurs 10am, Thurs 6:30 and Thurs 7:30.

Dance team girls are in both shows.

December is a full tuition month please get it in this week, I need to close my books for the year. There is not tuition due in June so the year balances out. We still have classes next week. Our break goes from Dec 19^th thru Jan 2^nd with classes resuming on Tues Jan 3^rd.

With the new year, I would like to ask those of you who are watching classes to stay back by the coat area, especially if you have small children with you, we are noticing a big distraction lately with siblings/parents… Sorry.

Please also make sure you are sending your child in dance clothes… Jeans are not dance appropriate, the girls are unable to stretch in jeans.

Thank you so much to all those who helped make our coat drive a success, we were able to give all the coats needed as well as a little cash!

Have a Merry Christmas, we love teaching each of your children! I really appreciate your support.

Competition Team hair

Part their hair on the left side from the front to the crown of the head, then part straight down to the ear.. I pull the remaining hair back in an elastic so that it does not get mixed in.
split the hair into 3 pieces, cross the outer piece under the middle piece, and then the front piece under the middle piece.... then continue this process but pick up more hair as you go down. I pick up from the back a couple of times, and then only pick up from the front the rest of the way down.
If you notice in the above picture, I pick up 2x from the back of the head and 4x from the front. Braid all the way down.
Now comb all the hair over into a side pony tail, make sure you slick it gel it hair spray it whatever so you will not get whispies!
Here is picture #1's part out of order sorry!
After you have slicked the hair into a side pony tail wrap it up in a bun, I use another elastic to hold it in place.
Now wrap your hair piece around the bun, I twist mine around 2x so it stays in tighter and then bobby pin the crap out of it.... Have them puff their cheeks full of air just for a nice photo...
Then tell them not to have puffy cheeks so you can get a better picture, they may laugh...
Again with the hairspray/gel whatever t get a nice sleek look!
Just one more look at the side pony tail before the bun... sorry I'm in a hurry and don't have time to rearrange the pictures... I hope you get the idea! Thanks!!

Sub for Santa...

This holiday season Tiffany Dance Co. will be doing a COAT DRIVE for our Sub-For-Santa. We are trying to collect 51 BRAND NEW coats. We need specific sizes and will be assigning sizes to each day of the week. If you would like to participate, please follow the guidelines for your dance day below. We will also have a donation box if you prefer to donate money to buy new coats.

Here are the assignments for the day of the week you come to dance.

The deadline is Thursday, December 1^st, 2011:

If you come on Mondays, we need:

FIVE Coats - GIRLS SIZE 2T.

TWO Coats - BOYS SIZE 12 MONTHS.

ONE Coat – GIRLS SIZE 9 MONTHS.

ONE Coat – BOYS SIZE 9 MONTHS.

ONE Coat – GIRLS SIZE 18 MONTHS.

If you come on Tuesdays, we need:

FOUR Coats - GIRLS SIZE 3T.

Mark your calendar for Dec 10th for our Christmas recital. It will be at Herriman High School we will have 2 shows one at 10 at one at 11:30. Your Christmas recital fee of $10 is due along with your Christmas Costume fee with your October Tuition. Sorry the notes on how much this is was so confusing! Below is a list of prices for each class.

The following classes need to pay a $10 rental fee; Tuesday 4:30 Jazz/ballet class, Tues 5:30 jazz/tumbling class, Wed 7:30 Jazz/hip-hop class and all team students in the production classes.

The following classes need to pay $25 costume fee (you keep this costume); Tues 10am, Tues 2pm, Tues 5:30 mini team, Tues 6:30 Mini team, Tues 6:30 Ballet, Tues 7:30 Boys class, Wed 10am, Wed 4:30 jazz/hip hop, Wed 5:30 jazz/hip hop, Wed 5:30 jazz/tumbling, Wed 6:30 tap/ballet, Wed 6:30 mini team, Thurs 10am, Thurs 2pm, Thurs 5:30, Thurs 6:30, Thurs 7:30.

Tues 4:30 Strictly tumbling class You need to pay $40 your costume will be used in the spring recital as well.

Remember we will not have dance on Thurs Oct 20th or Friday Oct 21st

The week of October 24th thru the 28th we will have Halloween parties at dance please come in your costume and if you would like you can bring a treat to share with your class.

The week of November 7th thru the 11th will be Parent observation week. Please make arrangements to attend, we will go over recital information.

Competition Students

Remember your $30 Secret Sister gift money is due by the 15th.

If you are in Jr High or Older you also need to turn in your $25 uniform fee.

We will not have classes on Halloween. Those wanting to dress up dress up for your production classes only.

If you are wanting to do a solo or duet in the Christmas recital please let me know right away. If you are in our production number we will be performing in both shows. If you are not in the production number but would still like to participate in the Christmas recital with the rest of the team please see me (Tiffany)

Mini team if you are doing the production number practices begin this Friday at 5:30. You will also owe the $30 for Secret Sister gifts. If you are not doing the production number you will only owe $10 for the Secret Sister gifts.
We are really working Choreography so please make sure your daughters are to every class

Requirements for Intermediate teams

Here is a list of requirements-skills for the intermediate/advanced teams for the upcoming season...

Jr's we will have two beginning teams 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade.
The intermediate team will be 3rd thru 6th grade but MUST have the following skills.

1. A double pirouette
2. 3 Fouettes
3. Flat right or left splits and working on the others.
4. Good front and side right leaps working on back leaps and left leaps
5. Clean transitions and not having to be reminded to point toes extend arms etc.
6. At least 4 piques in a row clean.
7. Working on high low channe prep needed for fan kicks, barrel/stag leaps.

7th grade and up
amt/intermediate team
Same skills as Jr's intermediate team

Intermediate team
1. Triple pirouette
2. Multiple fouettes
3. Fouettes with leap combinations

Remember all pictures this year will be taken during your regular scheduled class time. Please come ready with your hair and make up done in your costume so we can stay on schedule. These pictures are pre-pay this year so bring your check, credit card or cold cash... Even if you do not want your picture taken please come and be in the group picture.

Great Job on Saturday! For our first competition, you guys did very well. WE now know what we need to clean up and work on to be even better in St. George.

Below is a list of extra practices for March… These are mandatory!

1. 3/9 Light the match4:30 to 6:00

2. 3/10 Dream will practice from 3:30 to 5:30 and Lullaby from 5:30 to 7:30

3. 3/12 (at the aquatic center) Toy story and Mare Only.. 6am to 8am

I know I said that everyone competing on the 19^th needed to come to the aquatic center on the 12^th from 6am to 8am, However…. I need to focus on the production number, so only the Production number kids need to come we need the full 2 hours for this dance. (We will run Mare a few times as well) You still need to bring your Secret sister gifts to this practice. (If you are not in the production you will bring yours on March 16^th.)

4. 3/15 4:30 to 6:30 Fly Me Away, Army Men and It’s Tricky (Sat 10,11 &12 classes) …6:30 to 7:30 Zingy & Barbie’s

5. 3/16 4:30 to 6:30 ALL students competing in the competition, this is where we will have our final practice go over all dances & get ready for the competition on Saturday…

6. 3/17 4:30- Garden, 5:30 -”Aint No other Man” ,6:30- Pointe, 7:30 -”Bounce with Me”

There will not be classes on Friday March 18^th so everyone can go support the soloist…

These Practices are in addition to all regular practices… our routines just are not ready to compete so we need the extra time and we need it with EVERYONE there. The absences are really killing us right now.

The week Before each competition we will also hold the Saturday classes on this Tuesday Schedule , and the Friday classes on Thursday.

Thank you So much for getting your girls to the practice so early at the aquatic center I appreciate your willingness to support us!!

Costumes are coming by the way…. The majority of them are being overnighted to me on the 15^th so it will be close but it will be fine. It is MY worry so don’t stress I will make sure everyone has a costume (please don’t ask me when they are coming….)

Extra Practice...

There will be an extra practice this Saturday March 5th at the South Jordan Aquatic Center from 6am to 8am for all those in the Production number!!! This is a mandatory practice!

Also March 12th their will be another practice at the same place and same time for ALL competing in the March 19th competition.

"Mare" (Monday hip hop) you have an extra practice at the studio this Thursday from 4:30 to 6pm you must all be to this as well!

Mark your calendar for June 6th for our spring/summer recital. We will have two shows again this year and it will be held at the Sandy amphitheater again as well.

Your costume fee was due with your Feb tuition (Fri 2:30 class yours is due with March’s tuition). If you have not already paid this please do so asap. Prices are as follows:

Tues 10 = $40, 2 = $35, 4:30 = $45, 5:30 = $40, 6:30 = $40, 7:30 = $45

Wed 10 = $34, 4:30 = $44, 5:30 = $44, 6:30 = $40, 7:30 = $45

Thurs 10 = $35, 2 = $40, 5:30 = $40, 6:30 = $42, 7:30 = $42 Friday 2:30 = $45

We will have parent observation the week of April 11th

We will not have dance Thurs April 21st thru Sat April 24th for Spring Break.

Anyone wanting to participate in the Stadium of Fire (must be 8 yrs old) let me know asap!

Competitive Students

Team students: Absences are out of control!!! The next few weeks you can not miss at all unless you have previously okayed it with me! These practices are crucial for us to be ready for competition on March 19th as of right now some classes are not even close to being ready because of all the absences, each week we have girls missing so we are having to re-teach/clean everything. If you have too many absences we will have to have you sit out a performance.

Your payment for comp fees and costumes is due, if you have not paid it and have not made arrangements with me please do so immediately.

Girls 7th grade and older you need to be in your practice uniform in all classes!

Everyone needs to make sure you are in dance clothes with your hair pulled up when you arrive at dance, we should not have to ask!

Anyone in the production we have an extra practice this Saturday March 5th from 6am to 8am at the South Jordan Aquatic Center, sorry it is the only time I could get, EVERYONE needs to be there!

ANYONE COMPETING ON MARCH 19th we have an extra practice on March 12th at the aquatic center also from 6am to 8am. You need to bring your secret sister gift to this practice.

All Saturday classes will still be held at the studio as well in exception to Production at 9:00, 8am hip hop class with Tanya you will come at 9am.

There will be other extra practices held for classes that need the extra work, watch for notes to come home regarding this.

All students make sure you have red glitter for your lips I have some for $1

Diamond hair clips (2) get them at Sally’s or Walmart….

Jacket and sweats...

I have had a lot of girls ask if they can get the new jackets/track suits or sweat pants, I will be placing a new order next week if anyone is interested please leave a comment on here... or email me. Look a few posts below if needed. We will not be ordering sweatshirts or t-shirts just the track suits and sweat pants.

Studio Update!!

Just to update everyone on what is going on with the studio..... This afternoon we had a car crash into the building. Everyone is okay, there were no injuries thank heavens!! But... the building has been shut down until they can get the structure safe. The plan right now is to build a temporary wall which would only take a day so that classes can still be held while the outside structure etc are fixed. I will no more tomorrow as to if they can get that done right away. There will not be classes held tomorrow morning (Wed 10am). I am going to go and see if we can use the city building or if I can find elsewhere to use while we get the temporary wall up. I will keep everyone posted so you will know where and if classes are being held. We for sure will be up and running somewhere hopefully in our own studio within the week. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hair for competition

Ok so here is the new dance team hair style for this year.... we will try it out and see how it goes.

I have step by step pictures and instructions if you scroll down a little. I just put this picture on to make sure you know to put the 3 ponytails going from the top of the head down to the ear on the left side (not to the back of the head)

I decided to do it to my niece's hair to show you that it can be done to short hair as well....

So Here goes..... Section off the left side of the hair... make a part going back and down. I pull the rest up so it doesn't get mixed in.

Now put 3 small ponytails going down the left side. It will work better if you evenly part them (it is easier to get out and it looks cleaner)

Using clear elastics is best then you don't see them. Sally's has a bag for $1 with like 300 in in...
Now turn the 3 pony tails inside out
make a hole/part toward the face and push the pony tail through it.... pull to tighten.

Sorry don't know why I posted so many views of this step...

Now just pull all the hair over to the right side behind the ear into a ponytail. bobby pins are a must to hold it in especially with short hair.

I then put the ponytail into a bun securing it with another elastic and bobby pins.

Now put the hair piece over the bun. My girls do not have thick hair so I wrap the hair piece around 2x and then bobby pin the heck out of it!!

Also make sure you hair spray it a lot as well. You can add glitter spray too, it looks great!! Spray the glitter before you come the schools generally don't like us to spray it there. (Glitter really is optional)

And ta da!! Let me know if anyone has questions!!

Also remember you need the two diamond/rhinestone bobby pins to put on the opposite side of the little ponytail things....

I hope you all had a Happy Halloween, I loved seeing all your cute costumes, and thank you to all who brought treats to share.

Next week is our Parent observation (Nov 8th thru the 13th) We will go over recital information and it is a good chance to see what your child is working on. Please make sure you leave all other children at home as they are a distraction, and our room is very loud! Competition teams this is optional. Mini team I will go over the production #.

Your $15 recital fee was due with your Christmas Costume fee. Please get that in right away. If you are unsure of what you owe, there is a list posted on the blog as well as in the studio.

November 24th thru November 27th We will be closed for Thanksgiving.

December 11th will be our Christmas Recital. It will be held at Westlake High School by Thanksgiving Point. We will have 2 shows, The first one starting at 1:30 and the 2nd one at 3:00. I will let you know at observation which show your child will be in. Competition Students you will be in Both.

Our Christmas Break will go from December 20th to January 2nd. Classes Will begin on January 3rd. December is still a full month tuition, we average the year out and we do not charge for any classes in June.

Please remember the 4 basic rules…. Wear dance clothes, pull your hair up, don’t bring others to class just the registered student, little siblings are VERY distracting… and Tuition is due the first week of the month.

Last year as a studio we did a sub for Santa, I am wondering if people are interested in doing it again this year, and if so if anyone knows of a family or group we can give to. Email me with ideas.

COMPETITIVE STUDENTS: Remember you are only allowed 3 absences per class before you will have to sit out a performance. We really need to buckle down and get all of our choreography learned and that is impossible to do with kids absent.

We will have 2 extra practices for those in the production number for our Christmas recital.. (Monday 4:30, Wed 3:30, Saturday 9 & 11 classes) They will be Saturday November 20th from 9am to 11am and December 4th also from 9am to 11am. These practices are MANDATORY There will not be hip hop held these 2 Saturdays, the other Saturday classes will be 8am to 9am Tanya’s production class, 11am to 12 Tiffany’s ballet class, and 12 to 1 will be Kaylie’s production class.

Our poll for Disneyland was a landslide for “maybe next year”…. Our uniform practice outfit won for both older and younger girls, but not very many people voting…. I will put that poll up for another week, and then make a final decision.

Here are the items available to order this year. Each competitive student needs to have either a jacket (This year or last year's) or a sweatshirt to wear over their costumes at the competitions. They will also need one of the bags. Get your order form from one of the teachers.
Non team students are free to order anything they want as well.

This is our new style of traveling outfits... They will have your name on the front and our TDC logo on the back. Prices are Adults $48 & Kids $40 for jackets, pants will also have their name on them. Prices are adults $34 Kids $32 Size Ys to Ylg or Adult xs to Adult xlg
Here are the basic black sweat pants with the TDC logo down the leg, name or nickname on the back is optional. Adult pants are $24 Kids are $18. Sizes are Ys to Y lg & Adult xs to xlg
Here are the sweathshirts & T-shirts, you can get them in black, brown or white. Sweatshirts are Adults $20, Kids $15 Ysmall to Ylg or Adult xs to xxlg. T-shirts are adult sizes xs to xxlg only they are $10 and are more form fitting.

All team students need either this bag $18 (This bag has your name on it as well) or a garment bag $9 they are at the studio and you can just purchase the garment bag it does not need to be ordered.

Our first month of dance was great! I appreciate all your patience with me having surgery right at the first of the month put me a little behind at getting all the classes settled, so thank you. Thank you for all your well wishes as well. I do appreciate all your referrals, however most of our classes are full at this time. We do have a waiting list for open spots in January.

There are a few important dates to mark on your calendars….

October 14,15 & 16th We will be closed for Fall Recess.

October 25th thru the 30th We will be having Halloween parties in our classes. Your child is welcome to wear their costume to class. If they would like, they can also bring a treat to share with their dance friends.

November 1st Recital and Costume fees are due. Recital fees will be $15 per student, or $25 per family if you have more then one student. A list of costume fees will come home next week, (I am still finalizing costumes).

November 8th thru the 13th will be our Parent Observation Week.

November 24th thru November 27th We will be closed for Thanksgiving.

COMPETITIVE STUDENTS:

We will have a short 15 minute meeting to go over competition dates, fundraising, and jacket/bag and costume orders etc. They will be held the following times.

Saturday 10/9 at 11:45, Monday the 11th at 6:15, Tuesday the 12th at 7:15 or Wednesday the 13th at 4:15.

FYI: We have technique classes held every Wed night from 8:30 to 9:30 for 2nd thru 6th grade and 9:00 to 10:00 for 7th grade and older. We also have tumbling every Saturday at 1:00.

Congratulations to Lexi Barnes she will be performing in Ballet West’s Nutcracker. We would like to go support her, so anyone interested in going with us, we will be going Tuesday the 14th of December, let me know if you want to come.

Summer Programs...

Tumbling will be held on Monday from 4:30 to 6pm for ages 9 and up & Friday 10 to 11 am for ages 4 through 8... if there is enough interest we will add another class.

Technique will be held on Tuesday 8:30pm to 10 for 7th grade and older. Friday 2:30 to 4pm for 6th grade and younger.

Stadium of Fire Practices will be held through June on Tuesday and Thursday Jr. Dancers 3rd through 6th grade (next year) 4:30 to 6:30pm... Main dancers Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 to 8:30pm.

Summer camps will be held the weeks of June 21st -15th, July 12th -16th, July 26th - 30th, August 9th - 13th and August 16th - 20th...
3rd through 6th grade will be 4:30 to 6:30pm
7th grade and up will be 10am to 1pm..

Prices.... tumbling and weekly technique will be the punch card system... cards are $40..
SOF $30 for the month of June
Camps are $50 for the younger class and $60 for the older... per camp.

Friday May 21st we Just got asked to perform at the Southland Elementary Fair (the grass performance). I will let you know which classes will perform at this; probably the 4 hip-hops since it is in the grass, maybe a few others….

June 5th is tentatively scheduled for our end of year competition team party so mark that day!

June 7th is our recital you will perform in both performances, so plan for the whole time.

If you are in Candy Man or Hi you need to be there by 7... the cost for non performers is $2 a kid and $4 adults. It is a concert benefit with proceeds going to Humanitarian kits/ Miss Herriman pageant. Thank you for supporting us in this..... Come performance ready... We must always look professional!!!

Extra Practice Schedule for the 3/27 competition

These practices are only for the production number unless otherwise noted
March 6th 9:30 to 11:30 at the dance studio. Monkey's 9:30 to 10:30 (hip hop will still be held at 8:30 & 10:30 ballet will be held at 11:30).

March 9th 3:30 to 5:30 at the aquatic center Monkey's 4:30 to 5:30

March 18 3:30 to 5:30 at the Aquatic Center Monkeys last hour (This practice is for all students!!)

March 20th We will be attending Champions competition at Granger High School in place of our dress rehearsal. Times will be announced as soon as I get them (probably the begining of the March 15th week)

March 24th 3:30 to 5:30 place tba.... This practice will be for all students performing in St. George

Everyone needs to be in all black for these practices with your hair pulled up. You need to bring all your dance shoes.

If you are not at these practices you will not be allowed to perform in the finale section of the production number.

Competition Students: Remember all competition fees and costume fees are due by March 1st. I know some are really high I’m sorry!! We will be doing the easter egg fundraiser again this year, but that will just reimburse you as fees will need to be turned in beforehand. Below is a list of additional items you will also need to make sure you have and a list of shoes needed.
All competitive student except Jazz Baby (tues 6:30) need the 2 diamond sparkly clips. If you do not have them from last year you will need to purchase them from me they are $4 for the pair. All students also need to make sure they have suntan body wrapper brand convertible tights and a body wrapper (nude tank leotard). Shoes are as follows
Nude foot undeez; Mon 3:30, 5:30, 6:30 & 7:30, Wed 3:30, 4:30 & Saturday 11:30
Pink Ballet shoes: Saturday 10:30 & 12:30
Black Jazz Shoes Friday 6:30
Tan Jazz Shoes: Tues 3:30, 6:30 & 7:30, Thurs 4:30, Fri 1:45, 2:30, 3:30,4:30, 5:30 & Saturday 9:30

Advance: you will need one jazz shoe and one foot undee we will vote on color based on what most of you already have.
We will have a mandatory practice for anyone participating in the Production number on February 20th from 8:30 to 10:30 am The Sat 8:30 hip hop class will then meet that day at 11:30 all ballet classes will stay on the regular schedule. Just a few important dates etc to remember…
Your $10 Recital fee and your costume fee is due with November’s tuition.
Next week November 9th thru the 14th is our Parent Observation week. This is optional for competitive students, all non-competitive students it would be greatly appreciated if you would make sure to have someone there to watch your child. We will go over recital information, and most importantly the children who do not have someone there usually feel left out. Please do not bring other children with you as they are a distraction.
We will take off Wed November 25th thru Saturday November 28th for the Thanksgiving Holliday.
Our Christmas Recital is Saturday December 19th at 11:00am please arrive by 10:30am completely ready to go so we can start on time. It will be held at Riverton High School. There is no admission (just your pre-paid recital fee) so feel free to invite whomever you would like. Invitations will come home the 2nd week in December.
Christmas break will be from December 19th to January 2nd. (Classes will begin again on Monday January 4th).

Competitive Students; If you are in any of the Production number classes, we will be having 2 practices to get ready for the Christmas Recital, the first one will be on November 21st from 8:30 to 10:30. The 2nd one will be on December 18th from 3:30 to 5:30. All other classes will be as scheduled those days. (except the 3:30 jazz class on Friday the 18th and the 8:30 hip-hop on Saturday 21st). This is a mandatory practice you all need to be there if you are in the Christmas production number (perfect Christmas Night). If you already have the sequency dress for this please let me know Asap so I can make sure I have enough.

Well we have made it through our first month of dance and everyone seems to be settling into their classes etc… We are excited to have you all as our students. We are already getting started on our Christmas Recital… Which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday December 19th at Riverton High School. I am still waiting to hear back from the district, but do mark your calendars. I will let you know the time as soon as I hear from them, I am hoping for a matinee performance!!
A few other dates to keep in mind.
October 17th is the hip-hop convention put on by Dance America, if anyone would like information on this let me know right away so you can get signed up… it is all day, and the cost is between $75 and $100 dollars and is for 4th grade and up.
The week of October 26th through the 31st your child is welcome to wear their Halloween costume to dance and bring treats to share with their class (if they would like).
We will have parents observation the week of November 9th through the 14th. Please make every effort to attend your child's class, we will go over information needed for the Christmas Recital. Please do not bring other children with you as they are a distraction. Parents of competition students this is optional as we will have already had a meeting…
Shoes are in, so if you ordered them please make sure and pay for them as soon as possible… Everyone should have the appropriate shoes for class now, you have had a month to get them. We need to be practicing in the right shoes. You also need to make sure you wear dance clothes to every class with your hair pulled completely off your face to every class!! Thank you!
Christmas costumes fees will be due with November tuition along with a $15 recital fee. I will get prices for costumes to you as soon as possible. Plan on around $25.

For those of you still needing shoes, there is a store just WEST of Bangerter on 126th S. called Dance Gear, that carries all the shoes etc that I order... I did order a few extra foot undeez in different colors, but other then that I will not be placing another order until January... Sorry!!

Welcome to dance!!! We are so excited to have you all and to start a new year. We have a lot of fun things in mind already for this year. I do not have a date for our Christmas Recital as of yet but should by the end of the week.
I have had a lot of questions about shoes… your daughter needs the following shoes for dance class. ____________________________________________.
For performing we use White Ballet shoes, black tap shoes, or tan jazz shoes. You can wear any color to class. Just make sure you have the appropriate color for performances. Competitive students you will need pink ballet shoes (if you have ballet) and tan or black jazz shoes depending on your costume.
If anyone is in need of shoes, I have some used shoes you can check for your size, or I will be placing a shoe order in 2 weeks. At the end of this week their will be a sign up sheet in the studio to order shoes. You must put the shoe size. Or you can get onto our blog spot (tiffanydanceco.blogspot.com) and leave a comment under shoe order. I will only place one order this fall (and one in January). I will only order what is on the sign up sheet or on the blog. Don’t call me with shoe orders or email me. Sorry but last year I forgot some this way and I placed too many orders ending up costing me in the long run. It does save you a few dollars ordering them with me, but you won’t have your shoes for a few weeks.
Please also remember to ALWAYS wear appropriate dance clothes to dance, leotard and tights, or jazz pants or shorts with a TIGHT fitting tank top or t-shirt. No baggy clothes, Levis, street clothes. Please always pull your hair up out of your face as well.
Please do not bring friends with you to dance. Parents you are welcome to watch but other siblings and friends are usually too much of distraction. If Parents also become a distraction we will have to change to a no observing studio.
Tuition is due the first lesson of each month.
We will not have dance October 1st through the 3rd due to the Fall School break.

The tap shoes, are a better quality then the Payless type shoes they have an elastic so no need for ties, and my favorite part is it has a little rubber pad on the bottom so they don't slip and fall so easily. The Payless ones are fine, just explaining the cost...

Hi everyone just wanted to let you know that I got an email today letting me know that they will not be giving us the schedule for Saturday until Wed of this week. I will let you all know as soon as I get it. Remember we have a practice for all those competing in the Nationals competition this Saturday on Thursday at the dance studio. 3:30 to 4:30 for all older girls (same as last weeks schedule) 4:30 to 5:30 for production # and 5:30 to 6:30 for all younger classes. Regular non-team classes will still be held..

All you great photographers out there will you email me pictures you take at the competitions I always forget to pull my camera out. Especially shots of the girls just together like during awards. Thank you Thank you!!

Wednesday 6:30 tap/ballet class... Your costumes are finally here I will send them home this week. However we have to move your picture time to next week the 20th of May the photographer had a conflict.

TIFFANY DANCE CO. MAY NEWSLETTER
Well this is our last newsletter for the 08/09 Dance year…. This year has gone by so fast! I want you all to know how much I have enjoyed teaching each of my students. Classes for next year are filling up so get your registration turned in soon. Those of you moving on we will miss you and wish you best of luck!!
Upcoming dates to remember- Friday May 29th is our performance at Southland elementary school. A line up with the address will come home the week before this performance. All Tuesday and Thursday classes will be performing at this event. Team girls I will send home a note with which dances will be performed at this.
Monday June 1st is our recital at the Sandy Amphitheater. We will have a rehearsal that same day. It is NOT a dress rehearsal, but please come in dance clothes with all your hair pulled out of your face and bring with you all appropriate dance shoes. The schedule will go as follows: We will begin with everyone at 10am and start with the finale. 10:30 to 11:00 will be all the pre-school classes. 11:00 to 12:00 will be all the elementary age non-team classes (this will include the mini team however). 12:00 until 2:30 will be all our team classes. This is an approximate schedule. We may go over please be prepared for that. Once you have practiced all of your dances you are free to go home. There will be no seat saving. We will clear out the amphitheater and open the doors back up at 6pm. The show starts at 7pm. All performers need to be there completely ready to go by 6:30pm. For the rehearsal please remember to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. In a few weeks we will send home invitations to the recital. It is free of charge so invite all your grandparents’ friends etc…. (You do need to pay your recital fee of $15 each)
June 5th is our performance at the Riverton Arts festival. All Wednesday classes (and Tuesday 5:30 class) are performing at this event. It is on Friday afternoon and I will send home more info as soon as I get it. Team girls I will send home a note also listing which dances will be performed at this.

All accounts need to be paid up to date for your child to perform in the recital. I have you as owing____________________________________________________________________. Please pay immediately or make arrangements with Tiffany. Thank you!!
Picture information will come home in 2 weeks.
We will be holding summer technique as well as technique and tumbling camps. Let me know if anyone is interested in this and I will give you the information.

Dance Team Information……

Great Job on Saturday, you guys did a great job and handled yourselves very well. Only one request…. Parents help us cheer during our production number!! Almost everyone of our students is in it so we don’t have the girls to cheer. The louder you cheer the more they perform!! Congratulation Rock the Casbah and Rhythm Nation you got perfect showmanship scores. We will plan a night out!!
Our next competition coming up is on April 18th at Clearfield High. I have a tentative Schedule with the production number first at 9:00 am so everyone participating in that will have to be there at 8am. I will give you the definite schedule with all arrival and performance times when it has been finalized.
We will have a group practice on April 14th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. At the South Jordan Aquatic Center (108 S. Redwood Rd) All kids performing at this competition (this includes the Tues 6:30 and 7:30 classes) need to be at this practice. All younger kids will be done at 8:30. All secret sister gifts need to be brought this night. This is a mandatory practice.
Remember this weekend we have Friday and Saturday off for Easter. (and next week end because of Solo’s) Friday classes are combined with Thursday classes, both this week and next. Thursday will go as follows 3:30 Rhythm Nation, Istanbul, & Smooth Criminal, 4:30 Stray Cats, Rock the Casbah, 5:30 Big Spender & Putting on the Ritz, 8:30 Comin Undone Wit it, Raspberry Beret & Mercy. Thank you for your patience with the schedule changes.
Congratulations to all of our Hip-hops they all earned an overall award for the day. Rhythm Nation got a choreographers award as well! Great way to start out the year. You guys are awesome… I am so proud of all of you.

Just a few reminders this month….
- Costume fees were due with March’s tuition. Please get that in as soon as possible. Class prices are listed at the bottom.
-Recital fee of $15 is due with April’s tuition. Recital will be June 1st at the Sandy Amphitheater. We have also been invited to perform for South Land Elementary at the end of May and the Riverton Arts Festival on June 5th.
-We need to go over a few guidelines for our studio that have gotten a little out of hand….
1. Friends and siblings…. Only those students registered in the dance class can come to dance. If you are observing your child we need you to stay in the coat area. The room is really loud and lots of extra people make it hard to teach and hard for the students to hear what is being said. We will have a formal observation twice a year where all parents are invited to come, and important information will be gone through. However this is still not a time for friends or siblings. Our next observation will be held April 21st thru the 23rd. (No observation for the competitive team classes).
2. Getting dropped off and picked up on time, please make sure your child is there on time, it is important they do not miss warm ups. It is equally important you are there to pick them up when class is over.
3. Please wear dance clothes with your hair pulled up out of your face. This is getting out of hand and we will have to move to a uniform if we do not see improvement..
Thank you most of you follow these rules, this is just a friendly reminder….. I do appreciate all of your support and love each of your children!!

Welcome any new students we picked up in January. Costumes have now been ordered so classes are set, I do appreciate all of your referrals and will now just put them on our waiting list for next year. Thank you!!
My lost and found box is getting very full, you might want to stop in and check for any missing items. I will be donating the box to the D.I. at the end of this month. We have some pretty nice jackets, shoes etc. Also dance shoes that have been left at the studio or at the recital.

February Competitive Team Newsletter

Competitive Students: Attached is a bill for all costumes and competition fees. If it makes you feel any better my bill was the highest! I think I just feel bad with the economy on everybody’s mind and it seems the costumes are stitch higher then last year. Competition fees were also raised. The first half of your costume fees has to be paid by the 15th of February with the remaining balance due the 15h of March. The first half of Competition fees need to be paid by March 4th and the remaining balance due by April 1st. You can pay all at once or however you would like as long as these dates are met. This bill does not include if you are behind on any other payments it is strictly costumes and competition fees. If you are behind on other payments please get your account up to date as soon as possible to avoid late fees.
Please remind your girls the following…. Go to the bathroom before you come. You have to have the appropriate shoes in each class. I will list everything out on the back. Do not miss!!! Pull your hair all of it out of your face before we have to remind you. Check your daughter as she goes out the door make sure she is in dance clothes hair up and has her shoes. I have been frustrated with their appearance and laziness lately. I do offer non competitive classes for those who do not want to take it so seriously. The teams we compete against practice 2 to 3x more then we do so we really need to make our practices count. I need every girl to be giving 100% from here on out. I along with the other teachers feel like we have to drag it out of some of them each week, while others are really trying their best.
Our first competition is April 4th in St. George.
2nd April 18th at Clearfield High
3rd is May 9th in the Salt Lake Valley
Last is May 16th at UVSC
Mini-team you will be competing on April 18th and May 9th. (if you are participating in the production # you will participate at all 4 competitions) In March we will have some extra mandatory practices that your child must attend. I will let you know the dates as soon as I know them.

We are working on two upcoming parties. The first one is a flat split party that will be at the end of this month. Anyone reaching their goal in splits set for them at the beginning of the year will be invited. Watch for you invitation! I want all the girls to know how proud I am of them with their splits most of them have really been working very hard at this and it does not go unnoticed!!
/the other party will be for the class with the best attendance it will be at the end of the season.. So try not to miss. I will be having a drawing at the end of each month for prizes for those who have not missed at all during that month. Thank you For dancing With Us! We love you all….

Below is a list of each class and what they need for competitions
Everyone(except mini-team) is also required to have a nude colored leotard underneath all costumes. This is for changing and your protection, we have had costumes come untied etc. and this has saved so much embarrassment!! You are required to get your own tights and shoes, I do have some but this is your responsibility. I will be placing an order that could include shoes nude leotards, tights etc, email me if you would like me to add anything to this order. It is your responsibility however to make sure you order the right sizes, I cannot deal with exchanges etc.
Monday 4:30 Blue Costume you already have. Suntan body wrapper brand tights, foot undies. Curly hair piece. .
Monday 5:30 Pants(being made for us) $ 35, net shirt $18, leotard $12. Because this costume ended up pretty expensive we will just use our tan jazz shoes with the Suntan body wrapper brand tights. Curly hair piece.
Monday 6:30. Costume on its way $50, suntan body wrapper brand tights and nude foot undies. Curly hair piece
Monday 7:30 costume on its way $50 suntan body wrapper brand tights and nude foot undies, spikey hair piece
Monday 8:30 Indie Costume $35, Hat $12, $5 to have costume altered, $9 spikey hair piece. You will need a black leotard to wear under costume and tan tights and tan jazz shoes.
Tuesday 3:30 Army dress with trunks $38, you will need a white leotard to wear underneath this costume if you are in the Thursday 8:30 hip-hop class you should use the leotard that goes with that costume. If you are not you need to get one, let me know if you want me to order you one they are $13. You also need suntan body wrapper brand tights and tan jazz shoes. Curly hair piece
Tuesday 6:30 Cowgirl costume(on its way) $45, hat $8, boot spats $10, you will also need the suntan body wrapper brand tights and tan jazz shoes. We will not be using the hair piece for this dance.

Welcome back to dance! I hope you all had a great holiday season. I, along with all the other teachers, would like to thank you all for the wonderful gifts we received. We really appreciate the thoughtfulness.
Just so you are all aware I will be out of town this week, 1/6 thru 1/13, if you have any questions just email me; I will be answering them at night. You can also ask the other teachers. There are substitutes for each class. I apologize for the inconvenient time (first week back), but my husband planned this according to the “cheapest” time to go not the most convenient!! For my Tuesday classes, I really apologize for missing the first 2 weeks (I assure you I have met with the sub and she is prepared to teach them the dances, etc). For those of you that are brand new, I am sorry I am not here to greet each of you.
If your costume for Christmas was a rental you need to return that as soon as possible. Please do not wash it I will have it cleaned. Also, the red cowboy hats need to be returned. Thank you!! (Dance team sequence dresses from the opening number, Tues 4:30 class, Tues 6:30, &Wed 5:30 your classes are the rental costumes)
Just a few reminders as we get the new year started:

December Newsletter
Hi everyone, December is a very busy month I know for everyone as it is for us at dance. Here are a few reminders and dates to keep in mind:
This Thursday December 4th is our performance at the Festival of trees, I am attaching the note they sent to me giving directions to the stage etc. please read over it. Remember this performance is more of a practice the girls may seem rushed as I am trying to squeeze as many as I can in they also will be a little more polished in a few weeks at the recital. Remember competitive students you are not performing at this at all this is mainly for our younger students. (mini-team you ARE performing). Please arrive completely ready to go at 5pm we will begin at exactly 5:35 and need everyone their lined up ready to walk on at this time. Please do not be late. Remember the performers get in free all others will have to buy a ticket. I gave some of you tickets during observation that have not yet been paid for please do so as soon as possible.
There will not be any dance classes held this Thursday the 4th because all teachers will be at the performance.
Thursday December 18th is our Christmas Recital. You need to arrive at Riverton High School by 6:30pm completely ready to go so we can begin the show at exactly 7pm. Invitations are also attached to this Newsletter if you need more let me know. Because you have paid a recital fee it is free of charge to everyone so invite whomever you want. If you have not paid for your recital fee or your Christmas costume this also needs to be done as soon as possible.
We begin our Christmas break right after the recital…. Classes will resume Saturday January 3rd.
December is a full tuition month and this needs to be paid by the 10th to avoid late fees. (Thursday 6:30 & 7:30 classes your tuition is ½ for this month) We average classes out to 4 classes per month and some months you get 5 so it balances out for December.
I have a lot of outstanding balances on costumes, shoes etc these also need to be paid by the 10th to avoid late fees….

Competitive Students please remember we have a mandatory practice for all those in the Production number this Wed Dec 3rd from 4:30 to 5:30 you all need to be there! Which brings me to my attendance lecture 2010….. You need to reevaluate your commitment we are trying very hard to get all routines learned by the beginning of January and in some classes it is becoming impossible. The Thursday 4:30 class you have only had one class all year with all students there!! This will definitely show when it comes to competition time. It is so not fair to those who do come every week. Remember after the 4th absence you have to sit a performance out, we have girls who have already reached this limit…. Advance girls (smooth criminal) you are out for good after 4 absences. It will be really hard to pull someone out but I have to do it…. You need to really be choosy about what you miss for, I suggest saving them for serious sicknesses or mandatory school performances/practices. The only absences that will not count are close family funerals. I hate to be so hard nosed but it has to be done for us to stay competitive. Some of the teams we compete against practice 2 to 3x more than we do so we need to really make our time count!!

November News letter
Thank you to all who brought treats to share with your dance class for Halloween. We had some really adorable costumes!!!! I will post pictures that I took on our blog spot sometime this week. Unfortunately I did not get every class. We are still working on our Website and will let you know when that is up and running. If your daughter does not bring a note home by the 2nd week of the month, you will want to check for one. I have lots left each week on the bench etc. I will also post each newsletter on the blog spot. The address for this is http://tiffanydanceco.blogspot.com
A few dates to remember:
Next week 11/10 through 11/15 is our Parents observation. Please make sure you send a representative as we will go over important performance information. PLEASE do not bring other children as they are a distraction to the class.
November 27th through the 29th we will not hold dance classes for the Thanksgiving Holliday.
December 4th is our Performance at the Festival of Trees. We perform at 5:30 you will need to be there no later than 5:00pm.
December 18th is our Christmas Recital at Riverton High School at 7:00 pm.
Your recital fee of $15 per student is due with your November tuition. Costume fees are due by November 15th.
We will take a 2 week break for Christmas. It will begin December 20th and classes will resume January 3rd.
You should be receiving your costume over the next few weeks if you need any alterations please call Debbie Jacobs at 254-5872. Remember those of you getting your lyrical/ballet costume it needs to last all year so alter accordingly, and please take care of it, don’t eat in it, throw it in a wad on the floor etc. If your costume is a rental you cannot make any alterations and please also take care of this costume!!
If any of you know boys between the ages of 4 and like 9ish interested in a hip-hop class please let me know I have a few people interested but need a few more students to make a class.
Please remember to wear appropriate dance clothes to dance and please please pull your hair completely out of your face!!!!

Competitive Dance Team Students:
Just a reminder you only have 3 absences per class on the 4th you will have to sit out a performance. (From now until Dec you start over again in Jan). I have students in the Saturday morning classes who are already in jeopardy of sitting out. Please make every effort to be to every class! It really affects both your daughter and the other students when we have to relearn steps and redo formations. Advance students you only have 3 for the entire you and once you are out you will have to stay out. Advance students also need to make sure you are attending technique at least 2x a month. Preferable more but…..
I have both competitive and non-competitive classes to accommodate different commitment levels. For the team you really need to be committed or just take a recreational class.
Here is a list of our Competition Dates.
St. George March 20th and 21st. Solo competition is the 20th and team the 21st . I need you all to plan on being there by Friday night we may have some very early performances and I do not want anyone trying to travel that morning.
I would have liked to have competed before we travel but this competition has been moved too early so……
The other competition dates are:
April 18th in Salt Lake County
May 9th in Salt Lake County
May 16th at UVSC
Mini-team we will compete. At the April 18th and May 9th competitions. (Tuesday 6:30 & 7:30 classes) Mini team students also have the option of participating in our production number…. However if you do this you need to make the commitment to be at each competition. If you would like to be in the production number please sign the bottom of this form and return it to Tiffany. We will do this class like we did last year where we will hold a couple Saturday practices to learn the routine and then just practice during their regular class time.
We will have a Dance Team party on December 19th just hold the day invitations will be sent out early in December. We will pick Secret Sisters at this time.

Here is a list of costume prices for the Christmas recital. If your class time is not listed below it means they are not performing a Christmas dance in that class, they are focusing on their competition routines in that particular class.....

The following classes are using the sparkly dress (green, red, silver or gold any color is fine) we have used for the past 2 years some of you may already have it, if not it is a $10 rental fee
Monday 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30 Tues 3:30, Saturday 8:30 & 10:30

Other classes are as follows:
Monday 4:30 $40 (will use all year)
Tuesday 2:00 $28
Tuesday 4:30 $10 rental fee

Stadium Of Fire Pictures

Stadium of Fire!!! We all had lots of fun this year at the Stadium of Fire, (most of us) it is not for the faint of heart that is for sure...... Survival of the Fittest could be another way to describe it. Check out these beautiful girls!!

Lined up ready to perform... it must be kind of scary with that many people in the crowd!! They pulled it off like true professionals.

Showing us how tired they were after 3 days in the hot hot sun!

Look how worn out they are they worked soooo hard.... imagine the hottest you have ever been..... x it by 3 and dance for hours on end. They are amazing! The tinest ones not quite 8 did not cry one time I was so incredibly proud of them. This really is hard work and they did a great job. I hope you all are back next year even with out Miley Cyrus!!

The New Year is Under way!!

I know you are all shocked that I am finally going to update this blog! It has only been 4 months.... anyway we finally have our new year under way classes should now be settled and everyone working on technique skills along with either your Christmas recital routines or competition routines.

Let me give you a few dates to mark on your Calendar.....
October 16th thru the 18th there is no dance for the UEA/fall recess.
October 31st No dance either Happy Halloween!
The last week of October you are welcome to wear your Halloween costume to dance and bring a treat to share with your class if you would like.
November 10th through November 15th will be Parents Observation.
November 27th through the 29th Classes will not be held for Thanksgiving
December 4th We perform at the Festival of Trees
December 18th is our Christmas Recital.
Our Christmas break will begin the 20th of December and classes will resume on Saturday January 3rd.
Mark you calendars for June 1st as well this is tentatively our spring recital.

The lady in charge talked to me about some of the oldest girls performing on Friday night is some kind of show with other studio's but I have not heard anything about it. If they do the dances they perform Friday will not perform Saturday morning so this is why I am waiting to finalize the line-up. Remember you all need to be there ready to go bright and early Saturday the 7th of June at 8am!! As soon as your number has performed you can go there will not be any kind of finale. Our recital does have a finale just a bow but..... if you can stick around for it!!!

Sorry everyone I have kind of let the blog spot go I have been crazy busy with competitions and getting everything ready for the recital. I got an email today telling me time to update!!! Sent anonymously funny I do need to update it thanks for the reminder. I think however there are only 2 of you who read this blog spot so.......anyway on with the updated information

First are dance recital is June 2nd at the Sandy Amphitheater it will begin promptly at 6:30 pm you need to be there by 6:00 pm fully ready to go. I will post the line up by this Sunday at the latest so those who do read this will have a heads up. I am sorry for having the rehearsal the same day and causing some of you to check your kids out of school if you can't it is ok, if so it will be beneficial thank you for understanding this. It is the only day in May or June It is the one and only day I could get!!!

2nd we have a performance at the Riverton Arts Festival Saturday June 7th at 8:30 am you need to be there by 8am I will also post this line up as well. You will only be doing one of your dances each, the performance is one hour.

Competitive Dance team students are end of the year Party is on June 5th I hope you can all come, those of you who can't need to make arrangements for your secret sister gifts to get there!!!

Stadium of Fire Participants we will begin our practices for this on Wed June 4th for the Jr. Dancers and Tuesday June 10th for the Main dancers. If you did not receive a note on this let me know and I will get you one. You need to know this is a very long dance (7 minutes that we have to learn in a few short weeks so you need to come to class warmed up and on your best behavior!!! It will be lots of fun though!!!

Last note, those of you wanting to sign up again next year you need to get your registration form turned in by June 1st I am only guaranteeing spots until then......
